Dragon Age Origins - Completing the Denerim Side Quests (Part 2)

There are a lot of side quests in Dragon Age Origins. The city of Denerim has many of these opportunities. Described are the details and spoiler information you will need to succeed and earn gold sovereigns from the Mage's Collective, Denerim Chantry Board and the Bartender at Gnawed Noble Tavern.

    Correspondence Interruptus

    Quest: Retrieve 12 love letters

    Reward: Six gold sovereigns

    How to Complete the Quest: In this Dragon Age Origins Denerim side quest you will need to retrieve the 12 love letters in chests located throughout Ferelden. Note: For most of the chests, you will need someone with lock picking skills to open them.

    Find them in the following locations:

    • Redcliffe Village inside the Windmill.
    • Redcliffe basement in the northwest alcove.
    • At the Pearl in Denerim. You will find it in one of the back rooms.
    • Wade’s Emporium in the Denerim Marketplace
    • At Arl Eamon’s estate in his upstairs bedroom. This is in Denerim, but you will not be able to access this location until discussion of the Landsmeet begins.
    • In the Dalish camp, just north of Varathorn the Elf Merchant.
    • Royal Palace in Orzammar. Find it in a room on the east side.
    • The Carta Hideout in the slum area Orzammar. You will visit this area when you are on a quest to find Jarvia. It is in a room on the southeast corner.
    • The Spoiled Princess Inn at the Lake Calenhad. Easily found in the only chest in the place.
    • Senior Mage Quarters in the Circle Tower. Look behind a wall in the east bedroom.
    • Brecilian Ruins. It is located in a secret room just past the entrance area. You can distinguish this room by a door shaped brick wall. Click on it to slide the wall aside.
    • Villager’s house in Haven. As you walk into the house, look to your right against the wall for the chest that holds the love letter.

    When you find all 12 love letters, see the bartender in the Gnawed Noble Tavern for your reward.

    Harsh Decisions

    Quest: You will need to kill “K" and his lieutenant. This is the 4th “D" quest. Note: You will need to complete the third “D" quest – False Witnesses before you will have access to this opportunity.

    Reward: Ten gold sovereigns

    How to Complete the Quest: Leave the Denerim Marketplace to access the map. Go to the highlighted location in Denerim. You will first encounter K’s lieutenant. Kill him to get the location of “K". Next, go to the location on the map to reach K. Kill K and go back to the bartender for your reward.

    Blood of Warning

    Quest: Mark four homes of the farmers that are being accused of being blood mages.

    Reward: One gold sovereign

    How to Complete the Quest: In this Dragon Age Origins Denerim side quest you will need to use the vials of goat’s blood to mark the four houses. Two of the houses are located in the Denerim Marketplace (look at your small game map at the upper right side of your screen for white arrows). The other two are found in the Dirty Back Alley and Dark Alley in Denerim. See the Mage’s Collective for your reward.

    Have You Seen Me?

    Location: The Mage’s Collective in the Denerim Marketplace

    Quest: The mages want to know the whereabouts of their friend Reynold.

    Reward: One gold sovereign

    How to Complete the Quest: After this Dragon Age Origins side quest has been added, a random encounter will occur where you will have to fight an Abomination. This happens when you are travelling to locations on the map of Ferelden. After defeating the Abomination, look for Reynold’s body and pick up his journal. Go back and see the Mage’s Collective for your reward.

    Gift of Silence

    Quest: Bribe the Knight Commander Tavish with lyrium potions to guarantee that decisions between the Templar and Mages will be investigated.

    Reward: One gold sovereign

    How to Complete the Quest: Find the Knight Commander Tavish near the entrance to Arl Eamon’s estate. Note: If you have not started the Landsmeet, you will see a large locked gate. Talk to Tavish and give him 10 Lesser Lyrium potions. Tavish will then give you the gold sovereign.

    Missing in Action

    Location: The Chantry Board in the Denerim Marketplace

    Quest: A veteran named Rexel is missing. The Chantry wants you to find him.

    Reward: Two gold sovereigns

    How to Complete the Quest: Rexel is in Arl Howe’s estate. This Dragon Age Origins side quest mission will not be available until the Landsmeet begins. The estate will be available after you begin the “Rescue the Queen" mission. Rexel can be found in the prison area locked up in a cell. You will need to kill the jailor who has the key. Once you have it, unlock the cell to let Rexel out. Rexel appears to have gone mad, but tell him he is free to leave. Go back and see the Mage’s Collective for your reward.
